Some people love to paint, others love to draw, and others still like working with their hands. This month at the Hunakai Studio of Fine Arts, we offer those hands-on artists a special opportunity to create unique artworks all their own with our 3D Sculpture and Mixed Media and Acrylic Painting class sessions.
3D Sculpture
Open to both teens and adult students, instructor Michael Evans will help participants develop their mastery of engaging pieces that are more than just ink or pencil on canvas. With 3D, sculpted art, every angle, nook, gap and shape takes on meaning of its own, allowing artists to make entirely unique and tangible pieces. Much more than just molded clay, this class allows students to blend together a variety of materials, including wire, paper, plaster and even everyday objects to create their one-of-a-kind works. This session will meet for two hours – from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – every Saturday through November.
Mixed Media and Acrylic Painting
Another option for those who want to get their hands dirty is the Mixed Media and Acrylic Painting class. In this session, adult students can work and experiment with a range of mediums to create traditional two-dimensional and 3D artworks. Blending the rudiments of color theory and composition, students will select the materials that they think will work best for their own creations and work to craft an expression that is uniquely their own. As a final touch, participants will color and shade their pieces with acrylic paints, giving vivid colors and a finishing sheen that will help these artworks truly pop. Evans will lead students in these classes as well, with sessions scheduled to meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays.
